It seems like a simple point to make, but anticipating what your customer is looking for is key to keeping a retail store exciting and relevant and designing and manufacturing brands and product collections that are compelling and sought-after… Identifying and forecasting consumer and lifestyle trends are paramount in the success of having products that will meet and exceed your customer’s demands and desires.

This past winter was a brutal winter. Cold and snow reached all time records, which is expected in the Midwest, but it seemed this year winter dragged on and on leaving the feeling that spring would never arrive.

I was out competitive shopping for a client when I came across a florist that had these wonderful yellow daffodils front and center in their display case. The right product at the right time. Obviously this florist was anticipating what their customers would need to elevate their spirits and give them a sense that spring was on its way. They were right… and they made a sale, and effectively made me smile and added an element of delight to my day as well as to my home. I was actually very grateful to this florist for what they added to my day.

This example may be simple but the principle can be used in many ways to build or improve the appeal and relevance of your store, brand or product assortment.
